Over the next few weeks, we will be announcing the 2022 League MVP and Pitcher of the Year awards for each Division. Next up we have the 2022 Division I - Pitcher of the Year.
When you start 5 games for the eventual league champion and pitch 43 innings while only giving up 2 earned runs the entire year, you tend to attract the attention of the entire league. That's exactly what happened this year with Lucas Robinson of The Topes. Appearing in 9 games in total, Robinson struck out an impressive 66 batters and lead his Topes to a 7-2 record in games in which he appeared.
His regular season 0.42 ERA and .149 OBA were both league best; and his 4.14 K/BB ratio paced an impressive Topes pitching staff. His .86 WHIP was 2nd best in division and 3rd best in league; while his 12.14 K/9 ratio proved to be best in division by a significant margin.
Robinson would add 14.2 innings in the playoffs and helped lead his Topes to a triumphant championship series win against division rivals Marlins.
Congratulations to Lucas Robinson and The Topes on an incredible season and Division I Championship win!
