Jason Haug joined the Santa Clara Cardinals in Summer 2025 and immediately established himself as one of the most impactful left-handed bats in the lineup. A Milpitas, CA native, Haug brings a physical presence at first base, a disciplined approach at the plate, and the ability to change a game with one swing.
Known for his patient eye, power to the gaps, and run-producing instincts, Haug has quickly become a middle-of-the-order force while also providing defensive stability at first base. His left-handed profile gives the Cardinals valuable balance and matchup flexibility against right-handed pitching.
Across 17 career games, Haug has been one of the Cardinals’ most productive hitters, posting a .419 batting average, .545 OBP, and 1.173 OPS. He’s collected 18 hits, including 9 doubles, driven in 13 runs, and scored 11 times, while consistently controlling the strike zone with 9 walks.
Defensively, Haug has logged 73 innings across multiple infield positions, primarily at first base, recording 61 putouts and maintaining a .951 career fielding percentage. His soft hands, strong footwork, and awareness around the bag make him a dependable anchor on the right side of the infield.
He has also appeared on the mound in limited duty, giving the Cardinals an emergency left-handed pitching option when needed.
Haug continued to be a middle-of-the-order presence in Fall 2025, combining run production with elite defensive reliability at first base. In 7 games, he collected 6 hits, including 2 doubles, and finished among the team leaders in RBIs (6) while posting a strong .480 OBP and .901 OPS. His ability to deliver in key spots and consistently reach base kept pressure on opposing pitchers throughout the season.
Defensively, he was flawless at first base, recording a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage across 33 innings and handling 37 total chances cleanly, reinforcing his role as a steady anchor on the right side of the infield.
Haug burst onto the scene in Summer 2025 with one of the most dominant offensive performances on the roster. In 10 games, he hit an incredible .500 (12-for-24) with 7 doubles, 7 RBIs, 8 runs scored, and a 1.392 OPS — all career highs.
His combination of power and plate discipline (.600 OBP) made him a constant threat in the heart of the order. Defensively, he split time between first base, third base, and second base, while also making a brief pitching appearance. His strong rookie campaign firmly established him as a core piece of the Cardinals’ lineup moving forward.
