Leonardo Lacapa made his Santa Clara Cardinals debut in Fall 2025 and has already become one of the club’s most dominant arms. A right-hander from Fort Worth, Texas, Lacapa brings a rare blend of power and precision to the mound, combining electric stuff with an advanced feel for pitching. His calm presence and relentless competitiveness have helped stabilize the Cardinals’ rotation and turn tight games in their favor.

Fall 2025

In his first four appearances, Lacapa has been sensational, emerging as the Cardinals’ ace of the staff. He’s tossed 16 innings, allowing just 3 earned runs while striking out 27 batters and holding opponents to an almost unbelievable .105 batting average. His 1.69 ERA and 0.56 WHIP both rank among the best marks of any pitcher in recent Cardinals history.

Lacapa has already earned three wins in his first four outings, displaying elite command and swing-and-miss ability with both his fastball and breaking pitches. He’s quickly built a reputation as a workhorse who attacks hitters early and dominates late in counts.

At the plate, Lacapa has added steady contributions, batting .250 (2-for-8) with 2 RBIs and showing a competitive approach in every at-bat.
